Abstract
The Sichuan Basin is renowned as the cradle of China's natural gas industry.The construction of 100-billion-cubic-meter national oil and gas production base in the Sichuan-Chongqing region is of great strategic significance for ensuring national energy security.In the Sichuan Basin,however,the extremely complicated geological conditions bring severe challenges to the large-scale reserve increase and cost-effective development of natural gas.In this paper,the 67-year natural gas industrial development history of PetroChina Southwest Oil & Gasfield Company(hereinafter referred to as Southwest Oil & Gas Field)is reviewed,the key measures that Southwest Oil & Gasfield has taken in geological theories,development technologies,industrial chains and management systems duringthe process of 50-billion-cubic-meter production increase are summarized,and the development prospect of natural gas during the 15th Five-Year Plan period is predicted.The following results are obtained.First,the natural gas exploration and development history of Southwest Oil & Gasfield can be divided into three stages,i.e.,initial exploration,steady growth,and substantial expansion.It constructed China's first 10-billion-cubic-meter gas region in 2004,then grew to China's first ten-million-ton oil & gas field dominated by natural gas in 2006,and will fully build up a 50-billion-cubic-meter strategic gas region in 2025.Second,the successful production increase of high-quality natural gas benefits from multi-dimentional and precise policy implementation from the aspects of highlighting geological theory innovations,focusing on key technological breakthroughs,constructing complete industrial chains,strengthening organizational management systems,upholding the spirit of Southwest Oil & Gas Field firmly,and shouldering responsibilities.Third,there is immense potential of oil and gas resources in the Sichuan Basin,and the annual natural gas output of Southwest Oil & Gas Field is expected to enter a peak range of above 60-billion-cubic-meter around 2030,but it will face many challenges in the long term,like production decline of principal gas fields,great difficulties in cost-effective development of deep and ultra-deep and unconventional resources,and increasing difficulties in safe and efficient operation of surface systems.In conclusion,by implementing four major strategies(e.g.innovation drive)and deploying five key projects(i.e.,SEC reserves-production balancing,shale gas revolution,old gas field ballast,EOR,and deep earth exploration),the Southwest Oil & Gas Field is expected to build up China's largest modern natural gas industrial base in 2030,so as to provide a core support for the construction of 100-billion-cubic-meter national oil and gas production base in the Sichuan-Chongqing region and make new greater contribution to ensuring national clean energy supply and promoting regional economic and social development.关键词
