Joint Optimization of ITS and STAR-RIS for Enhanced Physical Layer Key Generation

Abstract
Physical layer key generation(PKG)faces challenges in obstructed environments,such as low key generation rates,limited coverage,and high antenna power consumption.This paper proposes a key generation scheme assisted by Intelligent Transmitting Surface(ITS)and Simultaneously Transmitting and Reflecting Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface(STAR-RIS).By establishing a multi-user system model with multiple input single output,the ITS assists transmitters in replacing traditional antenna arrays for beamforming,while the STAR-RIS is deployed on the user side to achieve full-space channel reconstruction.Based on this,the key and rate expressions are derived,and an optimization problem aiming to maximize both key generation rate and security is formulated.To solve this non-convex problem,an alternating optimization algorithm is proposed to jointly optimize the amplitude and phase of ITS and STAR-RIS.Simulation results show that the proposed joint optimization algorithm converges effectively,significantly improving the system key generation rate compared to the independent optimization of ITS or STAR-RIS,especially in deep blockage scenarios,where it demonstrates superior performance.关键词
