Historical Perception and Cultural Interpretation of Cities in the Yellow River Basin
摘要
Abstract
The"urban revolution"in the Yellow River Basin,centered on the Central Plains,initially established the pivotal position of Yellow River civilization within the broader framework of Chinese civilization.Cities in this basin defined the fundamental characteristics of Chinese urban development,revealing that"cities are not solely or entirely products of economics and markets."The middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River represent the concentrated distribution area of high-level ancient cities in China,empirically confirming the Central Plains as the political,economic,and cultural heartland of the Yellow River Basin.These cities encapsulated the essence of Chinese civilization and the quintessence of Chinese culture,forming the region most complete in cultural elements and most significant in civilizational symbolism.The practical rationality of the Chinese nation has been sustained and expanded primarily through the economically prosperous Yellow River Basin.The capitals of this basin not only set important benchmarks and paradigms in Chinese architectural and urban history but also profoundly influenced the development of capitals and cities in other regions throughout subsequent eras.The early experiences and value orientations of Yellow River Basin cities deeply shaped the construction of Chinese civilization's value system and the formation of the spirit and character of Chinese cities.关键词
