Confucian-Daoist Dialectic:Dual Expressions of a Single Principle and Their Shared Cognition Pattern
摘要
Abstract
Beneath the apparent opposition between Confucianism and Daoism lies a substantive identity between their respective supreme concepts. The differences between them stem solely from divergent strategic choices in realizing the same universal principle. However, the determination of these specific strategies lacks logical necessity.Instead, the intrinsic cognitive structure of their practical wisdom inherently imposes a degree of subjectivity and contingency.Logically,Confucianism and Daoism could interchange strategies without compromising their respective claims to benevolence and naturalness. The enduring demarcation between Confucianism and Daoism, and their perception as distinct schools of universal principles, stems entirely from the politicized sectarianism of certain practical strategies and their historical persistence, which solidified into tradition. The deeper root lies in the tranquil confusion between the universal and the particular.Once philosophy invents a method to clearly separate the universal from the particular, thereby enabling precise definitions of benevolence and naturalness, the truth of thought is revealed.Yet prolonged obscurity has caused a significant loss of both theoretical and practical wisdom within Confucianism and Daoism.关键词
