摘要

Abstract

Nano-selenium has higher stability and bio-availability in ruminants compared with traditional sources of selenium.The unique absorption and transformation mechanism of nano-selenium has a positive ef-fect on regulating the health and production performance of ruminants.This article elaborates on the metabolic process and physiological effects of nano-selenium in ruminant animals under the mechanistic framework of high stability-efficient absorption-precise transformation.The stability of nano-selenium in the rumen is signifi-cantly higher than that of inorganic selenium.Nano-selenium is efficiently absorbed mainly via transcellular pathways mediated by clathrin/caveolin-dependent endocytosis and paracellular pathways regulated by tight junctions in the small intestine,and then converted into selenides and integrated into seleno-proteins such as GPx with the assistance of the selenocysteine insertion sequence(SEClS),thereby enhancing the antioxidant and immune functions of body,and optimizing the fermentation patterns of rumen such as significantly increas-ing the production of propionic acid.Studies in the future should focus on analyzing the interaction mechanism between nano-selenium and gut microbiota in ruminants,establishing species-specific dose models,and devel-oping targeted delivery technologies to further promote the efficient and safe utilization of nano-selenium in animal husbandry.
