Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the effects of buckwheat stem and leaf meal on the growth performance,serum biochemistry and cytokine content of postpartum piglets in Gannan Tibetan fragrant pigs in late pregnancy and lactation.18 healthy pregnant and primiparous Gannan Tibetan fragrant sows were selected for the experiment and randomly divided into a control group(fed with basic feed),10%addition group(fed with basic feed+10%buckwheat stem and leaf powder),and 20%addition group(fed with basic feed+20%buckwheat stem and leaf powder)based on similar physical conditions and expected delivery dates.Each group consisted of 6 replicates,with 1 pig in each replicate.The experiment started from the 70th day of pregnancy until the end of weaning on the 28th day after delivery,and serum samples were collected from piglets to measure relevant indicators.The results showed that:(1)Compared with the control group,there was no significant difference in body weight of postpartum piglets between the 10%and 20%addition groups(P>0.05),but the average daily weight gain of individuals in the 10%and 20%addition groups was increased by 18.22%and 7.24%,respectively(P>0.05).(2)The blood urea nitrogen(BUN)and triglyceride(TG)levels in the 10%addition group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),with reductions of 7.25%and 11.27%,respectively;The BUN level in the 20%addition group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),with a decrease of 10.87%;The globulin(GLB)level in the 20%addition group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),with an increase of 5.77%.(3)The IGF-1 level in the 10%addition group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),with an increase of 12.45%;The levels of IGF-1,COR,IL-1 β,and IL-4 in the 20%addition group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),with increases of 11.20%,68.11%,8.15%,and 13.29%,respectively.The results indicated that under the conditions of this experiment,adding buckwheat stem and leaf powder during late pregnancy and lactation had no significant effect on the production performance of postpartum piglets in Gannan Tibetan fragrant pigs.However,it could promote piglet growth and development by increasing GLB and IGF-1,reducing TG and BUN levels,increasing IL-1 β and IL-4 content induce anti-inflammatory effects in the body.The appropriate addition amount was 20%.
