Effects of different astaxanthin isomers on the growth performance,physiological metabolism,and body composition of juvenile triploid rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Abstract
To investigate the effects of different astaxanthin configurations on the growth performance,physiological metabolism,antioxidant capacity,and body composition of rainbow trout juvenile,this study incorporated 60 mg/kg of L-astaxanthin(Haematococcus pluvialis),D-astaxanthin(Phaffia rhodozyma),and mixed astaxanthin(synthetic astaxanthin with a ratio of 1:2:1 for L-,meso-,and D-forms)into a basal diet(control group),respectively,to create three experimental diets(L-Ast,D-Ast,and M-Ast).Rainbow trout fry(Oncorhynchus mykiss)with an initial weight of approximately 0.42 g were fed these diets for 10 weeks,followed by analysis and comparison of their growth performance,physiological metabolic indicators,and body composition.The results indicated that different astaxanthin configurations had no significant effects on the survival rate,growth performance,tissue coefficients,or body moisture,crude protein,crude fat,and crude ash content of rainbow trout larvae(P>0.05).The liver lipase activity in the L-Ast group was significantly increased by 74.9%compared with the M-Ast group(P<0.05),while its liver lactate dehydrogenase activity was significantly reduced by 59.8%,46.6%,and 49.5%compared with the other groups(P<0.05).Among the serum metabolic indicators,the serum total protein content in the L-Ast group was significantly higher than in the other groups,with increases of 34.3%,15.9%,and 15.9%(P<0.05),respectively,but its alanine aminotransferase activity was significantly reduced by 19.7%and 18.6%compared with the control group and M-Ast group;Compared with the M-Ast group,the blood glucose content of the control group was significantly reduced by 11.0%(P<0.05).The serum total antioxidant capacity in the D-Ast group was significantly increased by 17.2%and 19.5%compared with the control group and L-Ast group,respectively(P<0.05).All three astaxanthin configurations significantly reduced malondialdehyde content in the liver,with reductions of 54.0%,56.0%,and 63.2%,respectively(P<0.05).The serum acid phosphatase activity in the control group and L-Ast group was significantly higher than in the D-Ast and M-Ast groups,with increases of 21.9%and 19.3%in the control group compared with D-Ast and M-Ast(P<0.05),and increases of 15.3%and 12.9%in the L-Ast group compared with D-Ast and M-Ast(P<0.05).However,the head kidney alkaline phosphatase activity in the D-Ast and M-Ast groups was significantly reduced by 52.3%and 63.5%compared with the control group(P<0.05).In summary,this study provided a scientific basis for comprehensively evaluating the efficacy of different astaxanthin configurations and for selecting and applying them in feed.关键词
