Cortical Auditory Evoked Potential Waveform Characteristics and Applications to Miniature pigs

Abstract
Objective To investigate the waveforms of cortical auditory evoked potential(CAEP)in miniature pigs and evaluate their utility for studying auditory cortex function and plasticity.Methods Twenty-five healthy Bama miniature pigs were screened,and those with normal hearing in both ears were enrolled.Under anesthesia,CAEP components-exogenous(P1-N1-P2)and endogenous(mismatch negativity,MMN)-were recorded using the Smart EP auditory evoked potential system.Latencies and amplitudes were analyzed.Results Of the 25 pigs,22(44 ears)exhibited ABR thresholds≤45 dB SPL.Both P1-N1-P2 complexes and MMN were reliably elicited in all 44 ears.Mean latencies were:P1 40.48±11.72ms,N1 85.20±17.42ms,P2 127.00±24.81ms,and MMN 213.27±47.86ms.Mean amplitudes were:P1-N1 2.04±1.17µV,N1-P2 1.70±0.90µV,and MMN 1.43±1.15µV.Conclusion The latency characteristics of CAEP waveforms in miniature pigs are closer to humans than those in traditional rodent models,suggesting that they may possess auditory discrimination abilities and cortical processing mechanisms similar to humans.Therefore,they can serve as a valuable model for research on auditory cortex function,development,and plasticity.关键词
