干旱和盐胁迫对巴天酸模种子萌发及幼苗生理特性的影响
Effects of drought and salt stress on seed germination and seedling physiological index of Rumex patientia

Abstract
The study examined the effects of drought and salt stress on seed germination characteristics and seedling physiological index of Rumex patientia.Drought and salt stress on the seeds and seedlings were simulated using PEG-6000 and NaCl solutions at varying concentrations,respectively;it also measured the germination percentage,germination potential,germination index,and the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),peroxidase(POD),and catalase(CAT),and the contents of maldodicarboxaldehyde(MDA)and proline(Pro)in the seedlings.The results indicate that with the increase in the concentration of PEG-6000 simulating drought stress,the seed germination percentage,the germination potential,the germination index of R.patientia initially increased but declined later.Under low concentrations of PEG-6000 simulating drought stress,the germination parameters were not significant(P>0.05);under high concentrations of PEG-6000(≥20%)simulating drought stress,the germination parameters were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Similarly,with the increase in the concentration of NaCl simulating salt stress,the germination percentage,germination potential,and germination index of R.patientia seeds gradually decreased;low concentrations of NaCl had no significant effect on the germination of seeds(P>0.05).Low NaCl concentrations affected the germination of R.patientia seeds,while high concentration NaCl(≥0.7%)inhibited the germination of R.patientia seeds(P<0.05).Under both stresses,SOD,POD,and CAT activities first increased and then decreased,while MDA content increased progressively under drought and fluctuated under salt stress.Pro content showed a complex rise-fall pattern with increasing salt concentration.Except for the CAT content in seedling leaves under 30%PEG-6000 simulated drought stress,which was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05),whereas it was significantly higher under 10%PEG-6000 simulated drought stress than in the control group(P<0.05).All other physiological parameters were higher than those of the control group,but the differences were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Therefore,R.patientia seeds and seedlings exhibit moderate drought and salt tolerance,though germination and growth are markedly inhibited under high-stress conditions.关键词
