A comparative analysis of the production performance and nutritional quality of different varieties of Avena sativa and cereal in the alpine pastoral regions of Nagqu,Xizang

Abstract
This study addresses the need to enhance forage yield and quality in the alpine pastoral regions of Xizang.Planting trials of seven Avena sativa and six cereal varieties were conducted in Luoma Town,Seni District,Nagqu City.The objective was to identify superior forage varieties most suitable for cultivation in this region.Therefore,a comparative analysis of the growth performance of different forage varieties under specific natural conditions,including plant height,fresh weight,dry weight,and nutritional components,was conducted.Among the seven A.sativa varieties,the plant height ranged from 73.1 to 113.2 cm,the dry-to-fresh weight ratio ranged from 24.5%to 28.4%,and the dry forage yield ranged from 7 560.0 to 9 793.3 kg·ha-1.First,the plant height and dry-to-fresh weight ratio of'Qinghai 444'and'Kaisa'were significantly higher than those of the other oat varieties.'Qinghai 444','Youmu No.1',and'Menglong'also exhibited the highest yields,which differed significantly from that of'Tianyanmai'and'Hanma'(P<0.05).The crude protein content of'Youmu No.1','Qinghai 444',MNK,'Kaisa',and'Hanma'was significantly higher than that of'Menglong'and'Tianyanmai'(P<0.05).The crude fat content of'Youmu No.1'and'Menglong'was found to be significantly higher than that of the other oat varieties(P<0.05),while MNK and'Hanma'exhibited a higher ash content(P<0.05).The A.sativa varieties'Qinghai 444'and'Kaisa'exhibited higher acid-and neutral-detergent fiber contents than other varieties(P<0.05),with a relative feed value(RFV)ranking in the middle(P<0.05).Second,among the six cereal varieties,the plant height ranged from 23.7 to 149.3 cm,the dry-to-fresh weight ratio ranged from 16.9%to 27.0%,and the dry forage yield ranged from 3 076.0 to 11 309.6 kg·ha-1.GY1 exhibited the highest plant height,dry-to-fresh weight ratio,and yield,whereas XM2 demonstrated the lowest yield.Significant differences were observed in the nutritional quality of the cereal varieties(P<0.05).MD and GY1 exhibited significantly higher crude protein content and RFV relative to other cereal varieties.Conversely,DM70 had the highest ash content(P<0.05),while GF had the highest acid-and neutral-detergent fiber contents.Based on the above results,'Qinghai 444'and'Menglong'demonstrated superior production performance and forage quality among the seven introduced A.sativa varieties,while GY1 was superior among the six cereal varieties.These varieties are suitable for promotion and cultivation in high-altitude alpine regions similar to Nagqu,Xizang.关键词
