Abstract

A total of 102 healthy Ctenopharyngodon idella were randomly divided into two groups to evaluate the effects of tryptophan on the growth,immunity,antioxidant capacity,and intestinal microbiota of idella this species.A feeding trial was conducted with diets supplemented with 0 and 1 g/kg of tryptophan,respectively.After the trial,changes in serum levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD),complement C3,and immunoglobulin M(IgM),differences in intestinal microbiota,and differences in the intestinal transcriptome were detected in both groups.Compared to the control group,the tryptophan-supplemented group showed a significant increase in final body weight(FBW),weight gain rate(WGR),and specific growth rate(SGR),and a significant de-crease in feed conversion ratio(FCR).The activities of SOD,C3,and IgM were significantly higher in the tryptophan-supplemented group than in the control group.At the phylum level,the relative abundances of Fuso-bacteria and Tenericutes were significantly higher in the trial group compared to the control group.At the genus level,the relative abundance of Cetobacterium in the intestine was significantly increased in the trial group.Analysis of transcriptomic sequencing data revealed that groups of genes exhibiting differential expression in the C.idella intestine showed significant enrichment for amino acid biosynthesis and degradation metabolic networks.This included key amino acids such as arginine,methionine,cysteine,glutamate,aspartate,alanine,threonine,serine,and glycine.Tryptophan significantly enhanced the growth performance,immunity,and antioxidant ca-pacity of C.idella;altered the community structure of the intestinal microbiota,strengthened the intestinal epi-thelial barrier,and thereby effectively improved intestinal health;and improved intestinal health in C.idella by balancing or activating other amino acid metabolic pathways.
