Effect of the six-character formula on the exercise ability and quality of life of the elderly with coronary heart disease and frailty
摘要
Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of the six-character formula on the exercise ability and quality of life of the elderly with coronary heart disease(CHD)and frailty.Methods Sixty-two elderly patients with CHD and frailty admitted from October 2023 to October 2024 were enrolled and randomly assigned to two groups(n=31case each,by a random number list):A control group(routine intervention)and an observation group(six-character formula intervention).Outcomes assessed before and after treatment included the cardiac function(measuring left ventricular ejection fraction[LVEF],left ventricular end-systolic diameter[LVESD],left ventricular end-diastolic diameter[LVEDD]),frailty symptoms(measuring Fried frailty scale[FFS]score,hand grip strength[HGS],and walking speed),exercise tolerance(measuring 6 min walking test[6 MWT]score),and Seattle angina questionnaire(SAQ)summary score and its 5 subdomains(Physical Limitation[PL],Anginal Stability[AS],Angina Frequency[AF],Treatment Satisfaction[TS],and Quality of Life[QoL])between the two groups.Results After treatment,the observation group demonstrated significant improvement across multiple measures compared both with its baseline and the control group(all P<0.05).Specifically,LVESD and LVEDD were significantly decreased,while LVEF was significantly increased;FFS was significantly decreased,and HGS and walking speed were significantly increased;6MWT was significantly increased.After treatment,the both groups had significant increases in SAQ scores for PL,AS,AF,TS,and QoL subdomains than before treatment,and SAQ summary score was significantly higher in the observation group than the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion Adopting the six-character formula for elderly patients with CHD and frailty can improve heart function and frailty,enhance exercise ability,and greatly improve their quality of life,the intervention effect is remarkable.关键词
