Current Status of Jackfruit(Artocarpus hetero-phyllus Lam.)Industry in Guangxi and Strate-gies for Its High-Quality Development during the 15th Five-Year Plan Period

Abstract
Jackfruit(Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.)is an emerging tropical fruit with a rich aroma,which flesh is sweet and rich in nutrients.It possesses the excellent characteristics of being both food and medicine with strong market demand and significant economic benefits.Vigorously developing the jackfruit industry plays a crucial role in consolidating achievements in poverty allevi-ation and increasing farmers'income.This study aimed to systematically assess the current develop-ment status of the jackfruit industry in Guangxi,analyze the key factors constraining its high-quality development,and provide theoretical foundations and strategic recommendations for scientifically planning the industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period and promoting its transition toward qual-ity and efficiency.Data were collected through methods such as questionnaire surveys and field in-vestigations to systematically analyze the current status of the jackfruit industry in Guangxi.Desig-nated development strategies and recommendations were proposed for the 15th Five-Year Plan peri-od.The results indicated that Guangxi,located in the subtropical monsoon climate zone of Central and South Asia,has unique climatic conditions that make it an ideal region for planting jackfruit.The main producing areas are Yulin,Beihai,Qinzhou,Chongzuo,Fangchenggang and so on in the southeast of Guangxi,the planting area is about 6 400 hm2,ranking the third in the country.Guangxi has abundant jackfruit germplasm resources and has a certain price advantage.The jackfruit industry in Guangxi is in an upward phase with rapid development.However,the jackfruit industry in Guangxi is currently dominated by foreign varieties,lacking home bred superior varieties,and the level of standardized cultivation at scale remains low.The products are mainly sold in low value-added fresh fruits and primarily processed forms,while the deep processing is weak,and the profit is small and vulnerable to market impact.The industry is also lacking insufficient technology and tal-ent support.The market system is not perfect,the brand construction is lagging behind,and the mar-ket is facing fierce competition at home and abroad.Recommendations included to strengthen collab-orative breeding and promoting efforts,accelerate large-scale,standardized,and green production,extend the industrial chain,enhance technology and talents support,and strengthen brand building and marketing,so as to promote the high-quality development of the jackfruit industry in Guangxi.关键词
