Current Status of Guava(Psidium guajava L.)Industry in Guangxi and Strategies for Its High-Quality Development during the 15th Five-Year Plan Period

Abstract
As a distinctive,niche,and high-value fruit tree,the cultivation area of guava(Psidium guajava L.)has been continuously increasing in recent years.Systematically assessing the current development status of the guava industry in Guangxi and analyzing the key factors constrain-ing its high-quality development can provide a theoretical basis and strategic recommendations for scientifically formulating the industry's development plan during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.This will promote the high-quality and sustainable development of Guangxi's guava industry and en-hance its overall competitiveness and economic efficiency.Using a combination of field research and literature review,this study examined the development characteristics and prominent issues of Guangxi's guava industry,and further explored suitable development strategies and implementation pathways for the industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.Most areas of Guangxi belong to subtropical monsoon climate zone with abundant sunshine and rainfall,long summer and short win-ter,and no extreme low temperature meteorological disasters,which is very suitable for the growth,development,flower bud differentiation and fruit growth of guava.Guangxi has a long his-tory of guava cultivation,with a large planting area ranking second in China.It is characterized by high quality,high yield,and good economic benefits.Significant progress has been made in guava breeding and cultivation techniques.These have resulted in the steady scale expansion of guava in-dustry in Guangxi,with its output value continuously rising.However,this industry is also facing significant challenges,including limited cultivar diversity,low standardization,and insufficient sci-entific and technological support.During the 15th Five-Year Plan period,it is imperative to carry out the breeding of diversified new guava cultivars,establish a green production standard system,increase investment in science and technology,cultivate leading enterprises,and promote the trans-lation of scientific and technological achievements into industrial practices.This will facilitate the transformation of Guangxi's guava industry from scale expansion to quality and efficiency improve-ment.Meanwhile,Guangxi's guava industry should focus on advancing the cultivation of improved cultivars and implementing differentiated regional planning.It should also integrate resources to es-tablish green production and pest control standard systems,increase scientific and technological in-vestment,and build a distinctive agricultural flagship industry,so as to help achieve the rural revi-talization and agricultural modernization.关键词
