Current Status of Starfruit(Averrhoa carambo-la L.)Industry in Guangxi and Strategies for Its High-Quality Development during the 15th Five-Year Plan Period

Abstract
As one of the premium and rare subtropical fruit species in Guangxi's characteristic fruit industry system,starfruit(Averrhoa carambola L.)holds an important unique value.It en-riches the regional fruit variety structures,fills market-specific supply gaps,and contributes to the diversification of county-level economies.This study systematically reviewed the current develop-ment status of the starfruit industry in Guangxi,analyzed the core bottlenecks restricting its high-quality development,and proposed corresponding countermeasures in order to provide practical pathways and references for scientifically planning the industrial layout during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.The aim of this study is to facilitate the transformation of the starfruit industry from scat-tered planting to large-scale,high-quality,and branded development.By integrating field investiga-tions,data integration,and industrial benchmarking analysis,this study analyzed the industrial sta-tus,development prospects,industrial layout,variety structure,production efficiency,economic benefits,and prccessing and chain extension of the starfruit industry in Guangxi.By focusing on the key factors restricting the industrial development,targeted development strategies and implementa-tion countermeasures for the starfruit industry in Guangxi during the 15th Five-Year Plan period are proposed.Guangxi has a long history of growing starfruit and enjoys climatic and resource advantag-es as well as a solid planting foundation for developing the starfruit industry.As a characteristic in-dustry within the agricultural economies of some counties,starfruit plays a pivotal role in ensuring the diversity of fruit supply and promoting the revitalization of rural industries.However,the cur-rent industry still confronts bottleneck issues,including a relatively small industrial scale,low yields and low unit efficiency,backward storage and transportation preservation technologies,an in-complete standard system,and insufficient support from science,technology,and talents,which have prevented the full release of the industry's potential.As a result,the full potential of the star-fruit industry has yet to be fully realized.Based on the"3+1+N"distinctive fruit industry develop-ment layout in Guangxi,with the core concept of"large-scale planting,standardized production,and full-chain value addition",this study proposes related key countermeasures,including to ex-pand industrial scale,optimize production area layout,extend the industrial chain,improve the standard system,optimize storage,transportation and preservation technologies,strengthen the sup-port of scientific and technological talents,and so on.By implementing these countermeasures,it is expected to break the bottleneck of the industrial development,enhance the core competitiveness and sustainable development capacity of Guangxi's starfruit industry,and help Guangxi make a leap from a"big fruit province"to a"strong fruit province".关键词
