Automated Extraction of Watershed Characteristies and Storm Parameters for Ungauged Regions Using an Integrated GIS Model

Abstract
Aiming at the issues of low efficiency and significant errors in the manual extraction of watershed characteristics and storm parameters for small and medium-sized rivers in the ungauged karst regions of Guangxi,this study develops an automated extraction methodology.By integrating GIS spatial analysis tools,an automated extraction process for watershed characteristic parameters(such as catchment area,river length,and gradient)is constructed.Additionally,a raster database for storm statistical parameters(including mean values for 1 h,6 h,24 h,and their Cv values)is established,forming a one-click GIS analysis model to enable the batch automated extraction of both types of parameter.Application results show that the model reduces the time required for extracting watershed characteristic parameters by 97.5%compared to manual methods,with errors of less than 5%when compared to water conservancy census data.The extraction time for storm parameters is reduced by 99.9%,completely eliminating manual interpretation errors and significantly improving both efficiency and accuracy in parameter extraction.This model fundamentally transforms the traditional inefficient reliance on manual methods and provides reliable technical support for regional flood control and disaster reduction,hydrological simulation,and water conservancy project planning,demonstrating significant potential for widespread application.关键词
