Research on the Comparative Response Time of Pyrolysis Particles and Gas Sensors to Very Early Fire Hazards in Switchgear

Abstract
Faults in 10 kV switchgear frequently cause fires,making early fire detection difficult.Two common insulating materials of switchgear such as polyvinyl chloride(PVC)and polyethylene(PE)will undergo pyrolysis in the early stage of fire,while traditional fire detection methods can't identify the characteristics of this stage.Therefore,this paper compares and analyzes the response characteristics of the sensors based on pyrolysis particles and pyrolysis gas detection,so as to provide technical support for the realization of very early fire warning in the switchgear.Firstly,it determines the pyrolysis process and products of PVC and PE through thermal gravity analysis,and analyzes the solid-phase and gas-phase products in the pyrolysis process of PVC in detail.Afterwards,it discusses the response characteristics of pyrolytic particles and characteristic gas sensors by building a test platform and simulating the cable overheating defects.The results show that at 100~110 ℃ and 150~160 ℃,only the pyrolysis particle sensor responds,while the gas sensor doesn't.At 200~210 ℃,the pyrolytic particle sensors in PVC and PE tests respond preferentially for 1 min and 5 min respectively.At 270~280 ℃,the pyrolytic particle sensors in PVC and PE tests respond preferentially for 1 min and 3 min respectively.关键词
