Abstract

To investigate the effects of seaweed extract(SE)and poly-γ-glutamic acid(PGA)on the early growth of flue-cured tobacco,a hydroponic experiment was conducted with different concentrations of SE,PGA,and their mixture.The experiment used'Yunyan 87'as the test variety.The regulatory effects of SE and PGA on the growth,development,antioxidant enzyme activities,and physiological metabolism of flue-cured tobacco seedlings were evaluated.The results showed that the treatment with low-concentration SE(×3 000 dilution)significantly promoted the root growth and biomass accumulation,increased the chlorophyll content,and enhanced the photosynthetic intensity of flue-cured tobacco at the early growth stage.Meanwhile,it significantly increased the peroxidase(POD),superoxide dismutase(SOD)and catalase(CAT)activities of leaves,thus enhancing the stress resistance of flue-cured tobacco at the early growth stage.The SE+PGA treatment showed stronger root vitality and varying degrees of increases in photosynthetic efficiency and antioxidant enzyme activities.Although SE demonstrated obvious advantages in boosting tobacco growth and antioxidant capacity,PGA had potential in increasing the net photosynthetic rate and enhancing the antioxidant capacity.The future research will focus on the combined effect of SE and PGA on the stress resistance of flue-cured tobacco,thus providing a basis for establishing an efficient tobacco cultivation system.
