Technological Hegemony and Struggles for Fairness:Deconstructing the Power Map of AI in Competitive Sports
摘要
Abstract
This study aims to reveal the technological hegemony constructed by AI in competitive sport and the ensuing practices of fairness-oriented resistance.Using VOSviewer for bibliometric visualization and drawing on Feenberg's theory of technical codes as the analytic framework,it traces how AI,through algorithmic norm-setting,data control, and the institutionalization of standards, becomes progressively embedded within the power structure of competitive sport. The current AI-dominated technological ecology exhibits a knowledge monopoly centered in Europe and North America;algorithmic benchmarks are calibrated to Western bodily samples, marginalizing technological representation from the Global South and from persons with disabilities, thereby entrenching structural inequalities in global sport. The EU Artificial Intelligence Act offers a proactive response in governing high-risk AI and mitigating data bias, yet existing policy does not fundamentally unsettle the implicit power logics that shape the setting of technical standards. The study proposes a bidirectional evolutionary model of"technical-code ossification-secondary instrumentalization",illuminating the dynamic tension between technological hegemony and equitable embedding. It underscores the importance of inclusive governance in the global AI-sport ecosystem and argues that, balancing technical efficiency with ethical justice in competitive contexts, technology should function as a platform for negotiation and co-construction among diverse stakeholders.关键词
