The Role of Cultural Integration in Enhancing Architectural Characteristics:A Case Study of the Songjiang Campus of Shanghai International Studies University

Abstract
Nowadays,modern architecture is facing the severe challenges of blurred cultural identity and a serious lack of place characteristics.As a unique spatial form,university campuses shoulder educational missions and carry cultural spirits.Against this background,how architectural design of university campuses responds to and shapes the cultural characteristics of institutions has become an extremely important issue.Taking the Songjiang Campus of Shanghai International Studies University as an example,this paper thoroughly explores the key role of cultural integration strategies in enhancing architectural characteristics.Through detailed analysis of the core buildings,spatial layout and subsequent development of the campus,it demonstrates that the approach of constructing place spirit through cultural integration has endowed the campus with a distinctive architectural identity,and at the same time provided valuable references for contemporary university campuses and even broader architectural design.关键词
