摘要

Abstract

Canopy rainfall redistribution represents a key driving factor of shrubland ecological evolution in arid areas,crucial for understanding hydrological cycles and water budgets in these ecosystems.Through field observations of Amygdalus mongolica shrubs with varying canopy sizes,this study analyzes throughfall characteristics and main influencing factors while quantifying effective precipitation reaching the soil and its spatial distribution.The results showed that:(1)Smaller-canopy shrubs exhibit greater throughfall(66.87%-72.08%of gross rainfall),with significant differences across rainfall gradients(P<0.05);A.mongolica almonds demonstrates lower throughfall than other arid-region plants;(2)Throughfall correlates strongly with rainfall characteristics(rainfall amount and duration)but not intensity,showing negative correlation with leaf area index,positive correlation with canopy thickness,and significantly positive correlation with mean atmospheric pressure(P<0.05);(3)Rainfall thresholds for throughfall and stemflow initiation are 0.53 mm and 0.72 mm,respectively,indicating minimal soil moisture replenishment from events<0.80 mm.These results advance understanding of vegetation impacts on local hydrology and support modeling rainfall redistribution to enhance water-use efficiency in arid regions.
