Observation on artificial breeding and embryonic development of Pelteobagrus fulvidraco in Poyang Lake

Abstract
To explore the stage-specific characteristics and developmental patterns of the early embryos of the yellow catfish(Pelteobagrus fulvidraco)in Poyang Lake,an optical microscope was used to conduct continuous observations and analyses on the morphological features and developmental sequences of each embryonic stage.The observations demonstrated that the fertilized eggs of the Poyang Lake yellow catfish were light yellow,oval-shaped,and sticky.The egg membrane was transparent and relatively thick,with the egg diameter ranging from 1.73 to 2.12 mm.Under the conditions of a water temperature between 28.70 and 29.20℃and a pH value of 8.4,the embryonic development of the yellow catfish went through eight typical stages:the fertilized egg stage,blastoderm stage,cleavage stage,blastula stage,gastrula stage,neurula stage,organogenesis stage,and hatching stage.The developmental process lasted 46 hours,with an accumulated temperature of 1 299.50 degree-hours.The average fertilization rate reached 79.90%.The results indicate that an incubation temperature maintained within the range of 28.70-29.20℃can effectively enhance the breeding efficiency of the yellow catfish.关键词
