Research advances in genetic diversity of small yellow croaker(Larimichthys polyactis)germplasm

Abstract
Small yellow croaker(Larimichthys polyactis)has undergone germplasm degradation in recent decades,pri-marily due to overfishing,habitat degradation and inadequate management.This has led to smaller body size,younger age structure,and earlier sexual maturation,highlighting the urgency of conserving wild germplasm resources.Re-search to date has largely relied on morphological and molecular marker approaches,revealing high within-population genetic diversity but low differentiation among populations,likely driven by extensive seasonal migration.This review synthesizes existing studies on the genetic diversity and population structure of small yellow croaker,classifies popula-tions based on genetic evidence,and summarizes progress in artificial breeding techniques and outcomes.These findings provide a scientific basis for conservation and sustainable utilization of small yellow croaker germplasm resources in China.关键词
