摘要

Abstract

[Purpose]This study systematically clarifies the research context and development logic of hulless barley(highland barley)across key technical and economic domains,including breeding,cultivation,quality evaluation,and processing.It maps the evolutionary trajectory of academic research in this field over the past three decades,identifies core research clusters,emerging trends,and structural bottlenecks,and thereby provides a comprehensive intellectual framework to guide future innovation and industrial development of hulless barley.[Method]A bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace,a leading visualization tool for knowledge mapping.The research dataset comprised relevant academic papers published between 1995 and 2024 and indexed in the core collection of the china national knowledge infrastructure(CNKI),a premier academic database in China.Multiple analytical dimensions were integrated,including institution-author collaboration network analysis,keyword co-occurrence and clustering,timeline mapping,and burst term detection.These methods enabled an in-depth exploration of three core aspects:the distribution and collaboration patterns of research forces,the intrinsic structure and knowledge domains of the field,and the dynamic evolutionary trends of research hotspots and frontiers over time.[Result](1)The research collaboration network exhibited a distinct"regional clustering"feature,with institutions located in the major hulless barley-producing areas of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau serving as the core nodes.These regional sub-networks demonstrated strong internal connectivity and collaborative intensity;however,there was a notable lack of substantive cross-regional and cross-institutional collaborative innovation,which was a prominent structural bottleneck restricting the overall development of the field.(2)The evolution of the knowledge structure in hulless barley research followed a clear phased pathway:the early stage(1995-2005)focused primarily on germplasm resource investigation,collection,and evaluation,as well as the systematic description of basic agronomic traits;the mid-term stage(2006-2015)shifted toward applied research,including the optimization of cultivation techniques,the improvement of processing technologies,and the exploration of industrialization strategies;the current stage(2016-2024)was elevated to a new level of value innovation and integrated development,characterized by the in-depth excavation of functional components such as β-glucan and polyphenols,and active alignment with national strategic demands such as Rural Revitalization.The current research frontiers were highly concentrated on three interrelated themes:the intensive study of functional factors in special varieties(e.g.,black hulless barley),the in-depth analysis of bioactive compounds such as polyphenols and their antioxidant activities,and the exploration of effective pathways to link hulless barley research with the large health industry and regional development strategies.This reflected a strong application-oriented tendency and high policy sensitivity within the research community.[Conclusion]The study concludes that hulless barley research has entered an active development phase driven by the dual impetus of interdisciplinary integration and two key demand pillars:market demand for healthy food and national strategic needs for agricultural development and rural revitalization.To promote the high-quality and sustainable development of the hulless barley industry,future efforts should focus on breaking down regional and disciplinary barriers,strengthening substantive interdisciplinary collaboration between agronomy,food science,nutrition,molecular biology,and other related fields,and prioritizing innovative research in several critical areas.These include nutrition and health-oriented molecular design breeding,the development of green and low-carbon cultivation technologies,the creation of high-value-added products based on functional components,and the realization of value integration across the entire industrial chain.Such targeted efforts will provide systematic scientific and technological support for advancing the hulless barley industry toward a more efficient,high-value,and sustainable development model.
