Diagnosis of development barriers and construction of a weak sustainability model:a case study of the Ngari-Yarlung Zangbo River Valley,China
摘要
Abstract
Based on the concept of weak sustainability, this study analysed the interrelationships and current characteristics of regional population, resources, environment, and development in the Ngari-Yarlung Zangbo River Valley(NYZRV),a core area of human activity on the southwestern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which faces the contradiction between ecological security barrier construction and the sustainability of residents'livelihoods. The study identifies obstacles in the interaction of these elements to construct a regional sustainable development model. The findings reveal that:(1)Local development issues include single and inefficient industrial types that restrict the efficient transformation of resources, lagging infrastructure construction that hampers the improvement of population quality, and insufficient urbanization that suppresses residents'endogenous motivation for ecological construction.(2)Promoting local sustainable development by optimizing development elements hinges on the greening of industries, the systematization of infrastructure, and the intensification of urbanization.(3)Based on these principles,the"industry-tourism integration model for urban settlements"and the"agriculture-tourism integration model for township settlements"were constructed. These models aim to reduce human disturbance to nature and achieve a win-win situation by fostering sustainable development in the valleys of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and continuously enhancing the function of the national ecological barrier.关键词
