Permafrost Degradation:A Driver of Phosphorus Cycle Transformation in Alpine Ecosystems
摘要
Abstract
Permafrost degradation is altering the biogeochemical cycles of alpine ecosystems. As a key limiting nutri-ent,phosphorus is now at risk of being lost, posing a phosphorus loss crisis on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. This review integrates recent advances in understanding the phosphorus cycle in alpine ecosystems driven by permafrost degradation. This review indicates that permafrost degradation mobilizes sequestered phosphorus, leading to substantial losses primari-ly through water erosion and triggering a soil phosphorus crisis. In response to phosphorus stress, plants and microor-ganisms adapt and provide feedback through adjustments in their morphology, physiology, and community structure, with their bioavailability governed by a combination of synergistic and competitive interactions. The coupling of phosphorus with carbon and nitrogen cycles influences ecosystem productivity, carbon sink function, and nutrient limitation patterns.Future research must integrate novel technologies such as in-situ monitoring, isotope tracing, and molecular biology, coupled with model integration and multi-scale data fusion, thereby revealing microscopic mechanisms and enabling macroscopic predictions to provide a scientific basis for accurately assessing the trajectory and climate feedback of alpine ecosystems.关键词
