Abstract

This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of replacing part of the concentrated feed in the diet of fattening cattle with palm meal processed by two different fermentation methods on the growth performance,nutrient apparent digestibility,serum immune indices,and economic benefits.A total of 33 Simmental crossbred beef cattle with good health and an average body weight of(534.64±24.75)kg were selected and randomly divided into three groups,with 11 replicates per group and one cattle per replicate.The control group was fed a basal diet,while experimental groupsⅠ and Ⅱ were fed diets in which 20%of the concentrated feed supplement was replaced by fermented palm meal A and fermented palm meal B,respectively.The pre-test period was 10 days,and the formal test period was 90 days.The results showed that compared with the control group,the average daily gain(ADG)of experimental groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ was significantly increased by 12.95%and 9.35%,respectively(P<0.05),the feed-to-gain ratio(F/G)of experimental groupsⅠ and Ⅱ was significantly reduced(P<0.05).The apparent digestibility of crude protein and neutral detergent fiber were significantly increased in experimental groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ(P<0.05),the apparent digestibility of acid detergent fiber in experimental group Ⅱ was significantly increased by 10.44%(P<0.05).Serum immunoglobulin A(IgA)and immunoglobulin G(IgG)levels of experimental groupⅡ were extremely higher than those in the control group(P<0.01).The content of IgG in experimental group Ⅱ was extremely higher than that in experimental group Ⅰ(P<0.01),and the content of IgA in experimental group Ⅰ was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The gross profit was extremely increased by 488.15 yuan/head and 386.77 yuan/head in experimental groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ,respectively(P<0.01).The study shows that using the fermented palm meal prepared in this experiment to replace 20%of the concentrated feed supplement in the diet can effectively improve the growth performance,nutrient apparent digestibility,and serum immune indices of beef cattle,and enhance economic benefits,with fermented palm meal A showing the best application effect.
