Impact and Mechanism of Artificial Intelligence on the Synergy of Pollution and Carbon Reduction in Manufacturing Industry

Abstract
Based on the data of China's A-share listed manufacturing companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2011 to 2022,this paper calculates the level of synergy between pollution reduction and carbon reduction in manufacturing enterprises,and then constructs an econometric model to empirically test the impact and mechanism of artificial intelligence(AI)on the synergy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in manufacturing.The results show that AI significantly improves the level of the syner-gy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in manufacturing.The results of mechanism analysis show that AI affects the synergy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction of manufacturing enterprises mainly through three channels:promoting green technolo-gy innovation,optimizing corporate governance and improving production efficiency.The results of heterogeneity analysis reveal that the promotion effect of AI on the synergy of pollution reduction and carbon reduction in manufacturing enterprises is more prominent in state-owned enterprises,large-scale enterprises,"dual-high"industries and regions with better legal environment.关键词
