Bending Creep Properties of the Nodes and Internodes in Moso Bamboo

Abstract
The internode and node samples are selected from 4-5-year-old bamboo and sliced radially into three sections(bamboo outer layer,middle layer and inner layer).X-ray tomography imaging system and micro mechanical testing machine are used to test and analyze the microstructure,physical mechanics and bending creep of different parts of the bamboo.The results show that indicators such as elastic limit,static bending strength,and elastic modulus whether in bamboo node or internode all exhibit a significant downward trend from outer layer to inner layer.The outer layer of the bamboo internodes has the strongest load-bearing capacity and the highest total failure energy consumption,while the outer layer of the bamboo nodes has the best resistance to deformation.The delayed elastic deformation of the middle layer of the bamboo internodes is the smallest,but its creep resistance performance is the worst,with relative creep deformation at 27.18%;and the inner layer of the nodes has the best creep resistance performance,with relative creep deformation at only 5.96%.Overall,the creep resistance performance of internode materials is characterized by outer layer>inner layer,and the outer layer demonstrates greater advantages in long-term load-bearing,which may play a key supportive role during the long-term bearing process.Compared with the resilient characteristics of the outer layer of bamboo,the middle part of bamboo is more suitable for the field of bamboo plastic forming.The research results contribute to the scientific prediction and evaluation of its stability in practical applications.关键词
