The Threefold Transcendence of the Path with Chinese Characteristics for Resolving Ethnic Issues

Abstract
Western nation-state theories and their practical applications have played a pivotal role in the evolution of modern nation-states.However,their inherent logical flaws have resulted in frequent ethnic conflicts,leaving modern state governance in a predicament.Taking China as a case study,this paper attempts to construct a three-dimensional frame-work comprising"theory,institution and practice"to analyze and discuss how modern multi-ethnic states can transcend the limitations of"single-ethnic state"paradigm and achieve new development.The article argues that the Chinese path to resolving ethnic issues is not a mere appropriation of Western theories but a systematic innovation rooted in Chinese cul-tural traditions and the practice of the Sinicization of Marxism.This path has generated a unique intrinsic logic.Specifical-ly,it replaces the Western advocacy of a"single-ethnic state"with the theoretical construction of a unified multi-ethnic state;it transcends the limitations of ethnic federalism and confederations through the system of regional ethnic autonomy;and it overcomes the deficiencies of formal equality with the practice of substantive equality.The Chinese path represents a major achievement in the theoretical innovation of the Sinicization of Marxism and constitutes a core component of building China's autonomous knowledge system,offering valuable insights for the governance of multi-ethnic states worldwide.关键词
