Level-of-detail Construction for Vegetation Model in City Information Modeling:A Case Study of CityGML

Abstract
To establish a data structure suitable for three-dimensional digital simulation of urban vegetation and to advance the digitalized development of urban green space monitoring and management,this study explores the application needs of vegetation models at different levels of detail(LOD).The CityGML standard is taken as an example and the LOD characteristics of building models in CityGML 3.0 are referenced to propose the definition of LOD for the corresponding vegetation model LOD 0-3.Vegetation modeling at different LODs is standardized into four types:2D graphics(LOD0),symbolized 3D geometry(LOD1),simplified 3D geometry(LOD2),and detailed 3D geometry(LOD3).The data logic for corresponding geometric models,component classifications,and attribute metrics across levels is outlined,along with a time-series-based expression method for vegetation models.At the end,the plant communities of the Sunshine Lawn in Wuhan Riverside Park are used as a case study to construct a CityGML vegetation model spanning LOD 0-3.The applicability of this model is explored,and corresponding application prospects are proposed.The developed conversion workflow enables generation of CityGML vegetation models at varying LODs from GIS data or SketchUp models,achieving integrated expression of geometric features and attribute information.Multi-LOD vegetation models constructed via CityGML standards facilitates alignment with existing urban information modeling frameworks,enabling unified geometric-semantic expression of vegetation model data.This approach advances the digitization and informatization of three-dimensional spatial characteristics in urban green spaces.关键词
