5种瑞香科造纸植物纤维的PLM光学特性分析
Characterization of Optical Properties of Five Thymelaeaceae Papermaking Plant Fibers based on PLM

Abstract
This study utilized polarized light microscopy(PLM)to analyze the optical properties of five Thymelaeaceae papermaking plant fibers before and after pulping,including Stellera Chamaejasme,Aquilaria Sinensis,Wikstroemia Canescens,Edgeworthia Chrysantha,and Wikstroemia Delavayi.Under the cross-polarized light with and without a red plate compensator,respectively,the extinction phenomena,in-terference colors,sign of elongation(SE),and fiber orientation were observed and recorded,revealing the relationship between fiber structure and optical properties.The results indicated that changes of the microfibrils arrangement direction and the fibrillar angle during the pulping process influenced the extinction phenomena and interference colors of the fibers.Specially,after pulping,the five Thymelaeaceae fibers exhibited more pronounced extinction phenomena,and their interference colors generally shifted to lower orders.In contrast,the SE and fiber orientation of the fibers did not change after pulping,namely the SE of five fibers remained positive both before and after pulping,and the fiber orientation consistently exhibited a Z-twist.关键词
