Exploring the Correlation between Angiogenesis and Atherosclerosis Based on the"Diseased Collaterals"Theory
摘要
Abstract
Angiogenesis is a key mechanism in embryonic vascular development and wound healing,and it also serves as an important accompanying phenomenon in the pathological process of atherosclerosis(AS),exhibiting dual regulatory effects.The"Diseased collaterals"theory reveals the pathological state of collateral vessel lesions,reflecting the progression and regression of AS.Based on this theory,this paper points out that under the"diseased collaterals"state,manifestations such as stagnation/deficiency stagnation of collateral Qi,phlegm-stasis binding,internal accumulation of heat-toxicity,hyperactivity of collateral pathways,and obstruction are closely biologically coupled with endothelial barrier damage,inflammatory responses,and vulnerable plaque formation in angiogenesis.Accordingly,an evidence-based treatment strategy for AS is proposed,focusing on unblocking"diseased collaterals"to promote"compensatory angiogenesis"and inhibit"pathological angiogenesis".This study interprets the mechanism of AS neovascularization from the perspective of the"Diseased collaterals"theory,providing insights for the prevention and treatment of AS using integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine.关键词
