林木心材形成的分子机理及调控研究进展
Research progress on molecular mechanisms and regulation of heartwood formation in trees

Abstract
Heartwood(HW)and sapwood(SW)are the two fundamental structural components of wood.SW consists of living cells responsible for water and nutrient transport,whereas HW is composed of dead cells enriched in terpenoids and other secondary metabolites,conferring decay resistance and durability.Despite its ecological and economic importance,the mechanisms governing the transition from SW to HW,including carbon allocation and the formation process in"sapwood-type"species,remain poorly understood.Here,we review current advances in the molecular and cellular mechanisms of heartwood formation,the factors influencing this process,and progress in artificial induction.Special attention is given to programmed cell death(PCD)of parenchyma cells in the SW-HW transition zone,the molecular networks controlling targeted deposition of secondary metabolites,and the synergistic effects of genetic and environmental factors.Furthermore,we discuss challenges associated with the long natural formation period of HW in valuable tree species and the conservation implications,as well as the ecological adaptation and economic value of HW in furniture,construction,and cultural applications.Finally,we propose that integrating molecular biology with omics approaches provides a theoretical and technical basis for controlled production of high-value HW and precision cultivation of trees.关键词
