Abstract

Under the trend of automotive lightweighting,integrated die-casting technology has emerged as a critical research focus due to its high efficiency and economic advantages.Taking the JDA1b Al-Si die-casting alloy as an object,the nitrogen-based and argon-based continuous refining processes within an industrial integrated melting system were compared in this study.It is found through the SEM-EDS,the element analysis and the slag quantity detection that the nitrogen refining promotes the formation of large-sized heterogeneous particles,leading to impurity levels exceeding specified standards.In contrast,the argon refining effectively removes hydrogen and inclusions,suppressing the generation of endogenous AlN inclusions,and significantly enhancing aluminum melt cleanliness(specifically manifested as low inclusion content and low density equivalent).The investigation results demonstrate that the aluminum melt quality was jointly influenced by the element burning loss,the scrap returns purity,and the density equivalent,and among of them,the production stability,the scrap returns control,the scum removal,and the real-time density equivalent monitoring are critical control parameters.It is confirmed through this investigation that the argon refining is more in accordance with the stringent requirements for high-purity aluminum melt in the integrated die-casting applications,providing theoretical and experimental foundations for the process optimization.
