长吻鮠仔鱼饥饿实验及不可逆点的确定
Starvation experiment and determination of the point of no return in Leiocassis longirostris larvae

Abstract
Studying the growth and development characteristics of Leiocassis longirostris larvae and the optimal feeding time provides a reference basis for the cultivation of Leiocassis longirostris larvae.In this study,three groups were set up:the starvation group,the feeding group,and the delayed feeding group.The morphological development characteristics of Leiocassis longirostris larvae were observed,and images were captured.Morphological indicators,including total length,body length,head length,eye diameter,and myotome depth,were measured to analyze the impact of starvation stress on the growth and development of larvae.Moreover,through the delayed feeding experiment,the intestinal contents of larvae were observed,and the initial feeding rate,the highest initial feeding rate,and the point of no return were calculated to determine the optimal feeding time.Under the condition of water temperature ranging from 23.5 to 26.5℃,Leiocassis longirostris larvae initiated exogenous feeding at 4 days post-hatching(dph),completely absorbed their yolk sac by 7 dph,and reached the point of no return at 13 to 14 dph.The mixed feeding stage lasted for 3 days,during which the initial feeding rate reached 64.40%and peaked at 97.80%.Notably,feeding rates remained consistently above 90%from 5 to 11 dph,demonstrating high feeding activity during this critical developmental window.Larvae subjected to starvation stress exhibited characteristics such as tissue consumption,physiological atrophy,and a decline in motor function.The allometric growth analysis demonstrated that the body length of Leiocassis longirostris larvae exhibited negative allometric growth relative to its total length,whereas head length,eye diameter,and muscle fiber height exhibited positive allometric growth relative to its total length.The study shows that Leiocassis longirostris larvae have a strong active feeding ability and a certain ability to resist starvation.The optimal feeding time for Leiocassis longirostris larvae was 5 days post-hatching.The organ development of Leiocassis longirostris larvae shows a functional priority mode.The organs related to feeding,such as head length,eye diameter,and muscle fiber height,develop preferentially,followed by the body length.The negative allometric growth of body length significantly reduced energy consumption,which,in turn,significantly enhanced the early survival adaptability of larvae.关键词
