Abstract

To clarify the physiological characteristics and stress resistance of hybrid rice seeds derived from the parent 977S under different harvesting periods,thereby determining the optimal harvest time and improving overall seed quality,this study selected two hybrid rice combinations(977S/Xiangnonghui 1484 and 977S/0WH1307)with significant heterosis and stress-resistance genetic potential.In the tropical monsoon climate zone of Sanya,Hainan,seven harvest period treatments were set(15,17,19,21,23,25,and 27 days after flowering).Comparative analyses were conducted on the germination characteristics,relative electrical conductivity,and antioxidant enzyme activities of seeds from different treatments.The results showed that hybrid seeds harvested 19 days after flowering for both combinations achieved germination rates above 80%,meeting the national seed quality standards(GB/T3543.4-2021).The optimal harvest period was determined to be 23 days after flowering,as seeds harvested at this time exhibited high germination rates,strong stress resistance,and lower deterioration risks.As seed maturity increased,the SOD and POD activity of 977S/0WH1307 hybrid seeds showed an initial increase followed by a decrease(peaking at 21 days after flowering),while CAT activity generally exhibited an overall trend of first declining and then rising.Antioxidant enzyme activities were significantly positively correlated with germination rates.Comprehensive analysis indicates that the optimal harvest period for 977S series hybrid rice seeds is 23 days after flowering.
