Frequency measurement point selection and regional primary frequency regulation capability assessment in high-penetration renewable energy power systems

Abstract
The increasing integration of renewable energy sources replacing conventional synchronous generators in power systems has led to weakened system inertia support and reduced primary frequency regulation capability,with growing spatiotemporal dispersion of frequency response.Conventional methods that evaluate the primary frequency regulation capability of individual units using a uniform system frequency exhibit increasing assessment errors,re-sulting in significantly diminished proactive participation of generation units in frequency response.To address these challenges,this paper proposes a novel method for frequency measurement point selection and regional primary fre-quency regulation capability assessment in high-penetration renewable energy power systems.The approach utilizes an improved LeaderRank algorithm to calculate node importance indices and identify critical system nodes as fre-quency measurement points.Frequency response similarity metrics are defined using Spearman's rank correlation coefficients to facilitate system partitioning around these measurement points,with optimal partitioning determined through modularity analysis.New assessment metrics for primary frequency regulation capability of renewable en-ergy units are established,enabling assessment of unit capabilities within each region by integrating frequency mea-surement points with partitioning results.The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through simulations on a modified IEEE 39-bus test system.关键词
