Abstract

The adsorbent adsorption method is one of the important ways to remove heavy metal ions from wastewater.In this paper,chitosan(CS)and polyethyleneimine(PEI)were introduced into the polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)matrix and the novel CS/PMMA/PEI nanofiber membranes were prepared by electrospinning.The CS/PMMA/PEI nanofiber membranes had a uniform diameter of approximately 900 nm,which exhibited good hydrophilicity and thermal stability.Their adsorption effect and mechanism on Cu(Ⅱ)ions were systematically explored.The CS/PMMA/PEI nanofiber membranes showed high Cu(Ⅱ)ion adsorption capacity(83.3 mg/g)and removed Cu(Ⅱ)ions through electrostatic adsorption.Additionally,the nanofiber membranes had abundant amino(-NH2)and hydroxyl(-OH)groups,providing potential adsorption sites for the complexation of Cu(Ⅱ).The CS/PMMA/PEI nanofiber membranes with low-cost raw material and simple preparation method displayed wide-range application prospects in removing heavy metal ions from wastewater.
