Influence of pollination clones on fruit-setting and fruit characters of Camellia chekiangoleosa Hu

Abstract
[Objective]This study aimed to screen pollination combinations with high-fyield and superi-or-quality for Camellia chekiangoleosa Hu.[Method]Using clones H1,H4,H6,and H7 as female parents and clones H1-H10 as male parents,pollination configuration experiments were conducted to determine and analyze the fruit setting rate and fruit traits after pollination.[Result](1)The self-pollination fruit set rate of each clone was low,ranging from 4.08%to 9.13%,whereas cross-pollination significantly improved fruit set.When H1,H4,H6,and H7 were used as maternal parents,cross-pollination increased fruit set by 19.18%,22.46%,19.28%,and 17.48%,respectively,compared to self-pollination.(2)When H1 was used as the maternal parent,the single-fruit weight,equatorial diameter and polar diameter of the four crosses H1×H3,H1×H7,H1×H8 and H1×H9 all significantly exceeded those of the remaining combinations.Specifically,H1×H3 produced fruit that was 24.37 g heavier than those of H1×H5,with increases of 9.98 mm in equatorial diameter and 8.01 mm in polar diameter.In addition,the oil content of fresh fruit from H1×H3 and H1×H8 was 1.11%and 1.10%higher,respectively,than that of H1×H10.Using H4 as the maternal parent,the single-fruit fresh weight of H4×H1 and H4×H5 signifi-cantly exceeded that of all other crosses except H4×H6 and H4×H7,surpassing the self-pollinated control by 20.99 g and 21.07 g,respectively.Moreover,the oil content of fresh fruit in H4×H1 was 0.14%-0.78%higher than in any other cross.When H6 served as the maternal parent,H6×H2 produced the heaviest single fruits;this weight was significantly greater than that of all other crosses except H6×H1 and was 16.79 g higher than H6×H7.The oil con-tent of fresh fruit from H6×H2 also exceeded that of H6×H4 by 0.45%.With H7 as the maternal parent,both H7×H2 and H7×H6 yielded significantly heavier individual fruits than any other combination,outpacing H7×H4 by 30.34 g and 35.76 g,respectively.Furthermore,H7×H6 delivered the highest oil content,surpassing the remaining crosses by 0.08%-1.68%.[Conclusion]Based on fruit setting rate and the comprehensive analysis of the member-ship function of fruit traits,pollination combinations with high fruit setting rate and excellent fruit traits were screened out:H1×H3,H7×H6,H4×H1,H4×H5,H6×H2,H1×H8,H7×H2,H4×H7,H1×H7.The research results provide a theoretical reference for the high-yield and high-quality cultivation of C.chekiangoleosa Hu.关键词
