Abstract

The Wushi C5 structure is located on the reversed structural belt in the eastern area of the Wushi Sag in the Beibuwan Basin.All the drilled wells around it have shown favorable oil and gas indications,with thick oil reservoirs discovered.At present,the commonly used methods for estimating the potential well control resources quantity include the volumetric method and the probability method,etc.The volumetric method has relatively strong estimation uncertainty and large errors in predicting resource volume.The probability method assigns values to resource volume parameters based on the accumulation probability,which can solve the problem of large uncertainty in predicting resource volume by the volumetric method.Through the statistics of various resource volume parameters of the third section of the Liushagang Formation of the Paleogene in the drilled wells around the Wushi C5 structure,the distribution law of each parameter was clarified.The potential well control resources quantity by the probabilistic method of the Wushi C5 structure is 392×104 m3(P10(high valuation)),256×104 m3(P50(optimal valuation)),157×104 m3(P90(low valuation)),with an average value of 268×104 m3(218×104 t).Meanwhile,referring to the actual drilling data of adjacent single wells,the potential well control resources quantity of the Wushi C5 structure calculated by the volumetric method is 164×104 m3(132×104 t).The C5-2 well was deployed and drilled into the oil reservoir,and the proved geological reserves were calculated to be 257×104 m3(215×104 t).A comparison with the potential well control resources quantity by the probabilistic method and the volumetric method shows that the result from the probabilistic method is closer to the post-drilling proved geological reserves.This confirms that the probabilistic method for the potential well control resources quantity can better accommodate the uncertainty of geological resources,and it can be applied in the study of potential resources,there by improving exploration efficiency and providing better guidance for the preliminary stage of exploration.
