The Construction of the Academic System of Baojuan Studies from a Broad Literary Perspective

Abstract
The construction of the academic system of Baojuan Studies has undergone a process from integration of multiple disciplines to specialization.Specifically,it evolved from the application of academic approaches such as folklore,popular literature,religious studies,and philology in the 20th century to the specialized research on Baojuan Studies in the 21st century.This specialized research also spans academic fields including ethnology,history,and linguistics,embodying a broad literary perspective.When compiling the developmental history of Baojuan,it is essential to take Baojuan documents as the foundation,carefully examine the classification of catalogs,the writing style of descriptive entries,as well as methods for version identification and collation.On this basis,we can further sort out the developmental stages of Baojuan,interpret its folk cultural background,and analyze its literary characteristics.Textual interpretation should not only start from the internal dimension of the text to analyze ideological connotations and explore artistic purport but also investigate the external factors of Baojuan,reflect its ethnic characteristics,and further explore four sets of relationships and their implications:between the divine and the human,the oral and the written/scholarly,ancient adages and current events,and elegance and popularity.Sino-foreign cultural exchanges are reflected not only in the two-way flow of Baojuan texts but also in the collision and discussion of scholars'viewpoints across different cultural contexts.Dialogue between Chinese and foreign scholars,which transcends disciplinary boundaries,integrates vertical(historical)and horizontal(interdisciplinary)approaches,and emphasizes both documents and theories,constitutes an important direction for studying the overseas dissemination of Baojuan,conducting academic discussions,and constructing the academic system.关键词
