从入声调归派格局看北京方言的历史演变
Perspectives on the Historical Evolution of the Beijing Dialect from the Entering Tone Distribution Pattern

Abstract
Based on the pattern of entering tone assignment,this study explores the historical evolution of Beijing Mandarin and its genetic relationships with other Mandarin subgroups.The assignment of entering tones serves as a core criterion for Mandarin dialect classification,with each subgroup forming a distinct pattern:Beijing,Jilu,and Jiaoliao Mandarin adopt a three-way split(with different rules for assigning clear entering tones);Zhongyuan and Lanyin Mandarin follow a two-way split;and Jianghuai and Southwest Mandarin exhibit a merging pattern.A large-scale analysis of data from nearly 900 dialect sites confirms the stability of these patterns,with exceptions mainly caused by dialect contact or historical stratification.A comparison with historical documents shows that the entering tone assignment in the Zhongyuan Yinyun(Midland Rhymes)is highly consistent with Beijing dialect in the Yuan Dynasty,while the complex assignment of clear entering tones in modern Beijing Mandarin stems from dialect mixing and contact-induced phonetic changes since the Ming Dynasty.The research finds that Yanjing Mandarin shares the three-way split pattern with Jilu and Jiaoliao Mandarin,suggesting a common historical origin,while the two-way split in Zhongyuan Mandarin represents an alternative evolutionary path.The theory of dialect contact explains the multi-directional assignment of clear entering tones.This study provides a new perspective for tracing the origin of Beijing Mandarin and investigating the historical relationships among Mandarin dialects,emphasizing the central role of systematic living language data in historical linguistics.关键词
