Abstract

The development of new quality productive forces requires the support of high-quality technical and skilled talents;vocational education should play a significant role.This study analyzes data of 31 provinces in China from 2012 to 2022,constructs a development index for new quality productive forces,and uses a modified C-D production function to measure the contribution rate of vocational education to new quality productive forces.The findings show that vocational education has a positive effect on new quality productive forces,with an average contribution rate of 4.78%,although the input-driven contribution rate needs to be further enhanced.Regional disparities exist in this contribution,with the eastern region performing best,followed by the western region,while the central region lags behind;a regional inversion phenomenon is observed between the growth rate of new quality productive forces and the contribution rate of vocational education.In order to enhance the adaptability of vocational education and increase its contribution rate,it is necessary to improve the diversified investment mechanism to activate new momentum,enhance the value of human capital to leverage new advantages,combine external support with internal drivers to build a new framework,and pursue coupled and symbiotic development to create a new ecosystem for vocational education in fostering new quality productive forces.
