Differential evolution of faults in Wenchang A sag of Pearl River Mouth Basin and its control on reservoirs

Abstract
Wenchang A sag has experienced multi-stages of structural movement,with relatively developed faults and a large number of fault-block reservoirs formed.Faults play an important role in the process of hydrocarbon ac-cumulation.In order to clarify fault differential evolution and control on reservoirs in studied area,taking 3D seis-mic data as foundation and starting from geometry and kinematics,differential evolution laws of fault system and its control on basin evolution and the formation of oil-gas enrichment zone in studied area are systematically analyzed based on the study of fault activity differences and classification and intensity,occurrence and evolution process of fault activity.The results show that,the superposition of"three-stages different-directions"structure is determined by using coupling relationship of fault geometry and kinematics,which controls the formation and evolution of 5 types of fault systems.Differential activities of the main boundary faults control basin evolution and trough migration laws,forming the filling characteristics of small-lake deep basin in early rift period,large-lake deep-basin in strong rift period and large-lake shallow basin in fault-rift convergence period.Differential activities of faults control forma-tion and evolution of 3 kinds of oil and gas enrichment zones(cross fault-block group of steep slope zone,cross fault-block group of gentle slope zone and converted normal structural zone).The research provides significant geo-logical basis for oil and gas exploration in Wenchang A sag.关键词
