Common applications of the χ2 goodness-of-fit test in genetic breeding of aquatic animals and its implementation in SPSS

Abstract
The χ2 goodness-of-fit test is a key statistical method for assessing whether observed data conform to the-oretical expectations.In the genetic breeding of aquatic animals,it is widely used to address critical issues such as verifying Mendelian inheritance laws and testing Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.However,the scarcity of specialized textbooks and the generality of existing textbook cases often lead to difficulties in knowledge transfer for researchers,including inconsistent calculation of degrees of freedom and unclear conditions for continuity correction.To address these challenges,this paper systematically explains the principles and computational steps of the χ2 goodness-of-fit test.Using classical genetics case studies,it provides a detailed step-by-step demonstration of the method's im-plementation in SPSS software,including operational procedures and interpretation of results.Key considerations in its application—such as determining degrees of freedom,sample size requirements,theoretical model rationality,and correction conditions—are also highlighted.This work aims to offer clear and practical guidance for data analy-sis in aquatic genetic breeding research and education,promoting the standardized application of this method.关键词
