Abstract
To investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with an aqueous extract of Eucommia ulmoides bark on the growth and hepatic antioxidant capacity of juvenile rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss),an experiment was conducted using juvenile rainbow trout with an average body weight of(145.55±4.13)g.Fish of similar size were randomly divided into five groups,each with three replicates,and each replicate contained 30 fish.The basal diet was supplemented with the aqueous extract of Eucommia ulmoides bark at concentrations of 0(control group),0.5%,1.0%,2.0%,and 4.0%.The feeding trial lasted for 10 weeks.The results showed that the superoxide dismutase(SOD)content in all supplementation groups was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),with the 2.0%supplementation group exhibiting the highest SOD content.The catalase(CAT)activity in the 1.0%supplementation group was significantly higher than that in the 0.5%,2.0%,4.0%groups,and the control group(P<0.05),while no significant differences were observed among the 0.5%,2.0%,4.0%groups,and the control group(P>0.05).The malondialdehyde(MDA)content in the 0.5%supplementation group was significantly higher than that in the 1.0%,2.0%,and 4.0%supplementation groups(P<0.05),but did not dif-fer significantly from the control group(P>0.05).The 1.0%supplementation group had the lowest MDA content.The protein carbonyl content in the 4.0%supplementation group was significantly lower than that in the 0.5%,1.0%,2.0%groups,and the control group(P<0.05),while no significant differences were observed among the 0.5%,2.0%,4.0%groups,and the control group(P>0.05).Overall,the results indicate that supplementation with 1.0%to 2.0%aqueous extract of Eucommia ulmoides bark can effectively enhance the hepatic antioxidant ca-pacity OF rainbow trout.Specifically,the 1.0%supplementation concentration demonstrated particularly significant effects in increasing catalase activity and reducing lipid peroxidation products.关键词
