Application of visual atlas checklist in packaging management of surgical instruments in Department of Central Sterile Supply

Abstract
Objective To explore the application of visual atlas checklist in packaging management of surgical instruments in Department of Central Sterile Supply.Methods A total of 2 400 surgical instrument packages before sterilization pro-cessed by the Department of Central Sterile Supply,People's Hospital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from January 2023 to December 2024 were selected as the research objects.According to the time sequence of management method implementation,routine management was implemented from January to December 2023 and included in the routine group(n=1 200).From January to December 2024,visual atlas checklist management was adopted on the basis of routine manage-ment,and included in the study group(n=1 200).To ensure group independence and avoid learning effects,different teams of staff were responsible for the two phases,with 10 people in each group.The unqualified rate of packaging and the incidence of packaging defects were compared between the two groups,and the operation satisfaction of the staff in the two groups was compared.Results The incidences of instrument functional defects,instrument number/model errors,packaging material errors,and instrument sealing operation errors in the study group were lower than those in the conventional group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of substandard instrument cleanliness between the two groups(P＞0.05).The incidences of label information error and in-formation traceability failure in the study group were lower than those in the conventional group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The operation satisfaction of the staff in the study group was higher than that in the routine group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion The application of visual atlas checklist can ef-fectively reduce the incidence of packaging defects,improve the qualified rate of packaging,and contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of packaging management of surgical instruments in the disinfection supply center.关键词
