Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between the expression of calcium-activated nucleotidase 1(CANT1)and protamine 1(PRM1)in tumor tissues and the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of patients with esophageal carcinoma.Methods A total of 198 patients with esophageal carcinoma admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanyang Medical College from January 2021 to January 2022 were selected.The expression levels of CANT1 and PRM1 were measured in both cancerous and adjacent tissues.The relationship between expressions of CANT1 and PRM1 in tumor tissues and the clinicopathological parameters of esophageal carcinoma was analyzed.Patients were followed up for 3 years.Based on their prognosis,they were grouped,and differences in CANT1 and PRM1 expression in tumor tissues were compared.The relationship between their expression and patient prognosis was further analyzed.Results The proportions of patients with positive CANT1 and PRM1 expression in esophageal carcinoma tissues[64.14%(127/198)and 93.43%(185/198),respectively]was significantly higher than that in adjacent normal tissues[17.17%(34/198)and 60.61%(120/198),respectively;χ2=90.525 and 60.281,P<0.001].A higher proportions of positive CANT1 and PRM1 expression in tumor tissues was observed in patients with poorly differentiated tumors,clinical stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ disease,lymph node metastasis,tumor length≥5 cm,and T3-T4 invasion depth(CANT1:χ2=67.336,90.349,43.150,10.358,53.098;PRM1:χ2=10.715,7.231,7.785,6.865,7.272;P<0.01).During the 3-year follow-up,4 patients were lost,leaving 194 patients for analysis.Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis revealed that the median survival time was 25.20 months for the 126 patients with CANT1 positive tumors,compared to 32.40 months for the 68 patients with CANT1-negative tumors.The cumulative survival rate was significantly lower in CANT1-positive patients than in CANT1-negative patients(Log-rank χ2=15.582,P=0.001).For PRM1,the median survival time was 21.60 months for the 181 patients with positive expression and 26.70 months for the 13 patients with negative expression.However,no statistically significant difference in cumulative survival rate was found between PRM1-positive and PRM1-negative patients(Log-rank χ2=2.975,P=0.085).Conclusions Positive expression of CANT1 and PRM1 is relatively common in esophageal carcinoma tissues and is associated with pathological grade,clinical stage,lymph node metastasis,tumor length,and depth of invasion.Furthermore,positive CANT1 expression is linked to a poorer prognosis in these patients.关键词
