Research Progress on Carbon Dioxide Biological Capture and Biomass Production Technology

Abstract
As the core means to address climate change and achieve the"dual carbon"goal,biological CO2 capture and biomass production technology had made significant progress in basic research,technological innovation and industrial application in recent years.This paper reviewed the carbon sequestration by three major bio-capture technology systems:common biological carbon sequestration methods,physical adsorption methods,and chemical methods.It provided a detailed analysis of three typical biological carbon sequestration systems:the chemoautotrophic bacterial absorption system,plant-based carbon sequestration systems,and the microalgae capture system.The advantages and disadvantages of each carbon fixation mechanism were analyzed,and the biomass production technologies such as organic acid compounds,biomethane,alcohols,biodiesel and so on were summarized.The feasibility and prospects of biological carbon fixation were analyzed from technical and economic perspectives.It was concluded that the carbon fixation pathways of chemolithoautotrophic bacteria were diverse while required optimization of key enzyme activity.The plant carbon fixation offered the largest while limited by photosynthetic efficiency.Microalgae showed the highest carbon fixation efficiency while the cost restricted its scale.In biomass production,microbial conversion yielded high-value chemicals such as organic acids and alcohols,while struggled with low product concentration and high separation energy consumption.Finally,the possible technical bottlenecks and future development directions of biological carbon fixation were analyzed.关键词
